The Ethno Kokle Ensemble of the Valmiera Culture Centre has been active under the lead of Zane Sniķere since October 2017. Together they make music, celebrate festivities, play concerts and participate in Masterclasses thus getting acquainted with the soulfull instrument – the kokle. The traditional Latvian string instrument kokle is their uniting element, because in everyday life each of the participants does different things. Together they meet to share their emotions through music. For some it is a meditation, for some a get-together or self-development.
The repertoir of the ensemble is varied, because they play whatever they like. These are arrangements of traditional Latvina folksongs, but also some cover versions of other popular songs. They use the wide possiblities of the kokle and are happy to share with its beautiful sound.
