About

The Music of Rahu the Fool origins in the first half of the 20th century – folkmusic, blues, jazz, sailors’ and soldiers’ songs as well as schlager in its most classical sence – all these styles will be mixed together by the group in the musc composed by other authours as well as the group members themselves. one could call it a bit old-fashioned, which nowadays only means – very up-to-date, taking into account the overal nostalgia for the solid values of past times. hand-made, more lasting items, a slower pace of time, and a more cordial being together, if not every day, then at least during the traditional festivities, while organising their own dance in the green.

The singer and guitar player of the group Pēteris Narubins says: “we are playing cover versions of latvian and american songs, as well as we are creating our own music. Me and Jāzeps love american blues. This feeling of the Jazz and blues of new orleans, the mississippi blues we are transfering into latvian music.”
